Missing Texas Student's Car Found In Berkeley
BERKELEY (BCN) ―
A car belonging to a Texas university student who went missing in December was found Tuesday in Berkeley, the Berkeley Police Department announced Friday night.
Now Berkeley police are seeking the public's help, asking anyone who may have seen the 21-year-old to contact them immediately.
Matthew J. Wilson, a junior at Rice University in Houston, Texas, has been missing since Dec. 15, police said.
His car, a silver 2004 Dodge Neon with Oklahoma plates, was found Tuesday in the 1200 block of Allston Way in Berkeley.
Wilson, a native of Haworth, Okla. was studying computer science at Rice University and lived in an off-campus apartment.
He was last seen by his roommate on Dec. 14 doing dishes at their apartment, according to a timeline posted on a Web site set up by Wilson's family, www.findmattwilson.org.
On the night of Dec. 14, Wilson's debit card was used to withdraw a total of $500, and the family's timeline showed that a few days earlier he had purchased matches, charcoal, a car cover and a car window shade from Target and WalMart.
Wilson is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 135 pounds with red hair and green eyes.
He may have a beard or glasses, police said.
Anyone who may have seen Wilson is urged to call the 24-hour Berkeley police non-emergency dispatch line at (510) 981-5900 or the Berkeley police homicide detail at (510) 981-5741.
A total of $25,000 in reward money is being offered by Rice University and Wilson's family for information regarding Wilson's disappearance and/or whereabouts, police said.
