Coroner ID's Hwy 880 Crash Victim

OAKLAND (BCN) ― The Alameda County coroner's bureau has identified Jose Ramirez-Carbajal as the 21-year-old San Leandro man killed in a crash on Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland Sunday morning.

The accident happened around 2:20 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway near Hegenberger Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Ramirez-Carbajal was driving a 2005 GMC pickup truck when it struck a stalled Chevrolet Sedan, which was involved in an earlier collision, CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said.

The truck overturned multiple times and Ramirez-Carbajal was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP.

The accident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call CHP Officer Martinez at (510) 450-3821.
