Santa Clara authorities said there won't be any criminal charges filed against the mother of a four-year-old boy who drowned at Great America amusement park last summer.
In announcing that the death of Carlos Alejandro Flores in July in a wave pool at the park won't lead to charges against his mother -- Yolanda Flores -- a Santa Clara police spokesman calls the incident "an unfortunate accident."
An autopsy report by the Santa Clara County coroner's office has officially ruled Carlos' death was an accidental drowning.
A spokeswoman for Cal-OSHA said the agency's investigation into the July 12th incident remains open.
The boy drowned in a pool known as the Great Barrier Reef.
The pool was allowed to reopen in August after agreeing to a series of changes, including a rule that the smallest swimmers be accompanied by an adult at all times.
