Pedestrian Dies After Running Onto Fremont Hwy 880
FREMONT (AP) ―
The Alameda County coroner's bureau has identified 20-year-old Richard Banner as the pedestrian who was struck and killed on Interstate Highway 880 in Fremont Saturday night.
The collision was reported at about 11:15 p.m. just north of the Mowry Avenue exit of the highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Preliminary information indicates Banner ran into southbound traffic and was struck by a Mitsubishi Montero before coming to rest in the northbound center median of the highway, the CHP reported.
He was pronounced dead at 11:41 p.m., according to the CHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
