Not Guilty Plea Entered In San Pablo Murder Case
RICHMOND (BCN) ―
Edward Wycoff entered a plea of not guilty Monday in connection with the murder of his sister and her husband at their El Cerrito home on Jan. 31, according to a spokeswoman for the Richmond Superior Court.
Wycoff, a 37-year-old Citrus Heights man, could face the death penalty if convicted in the deaths of Julie Wycoff Rogers, 47, and Paul Rogers, 48, at the home they rented at 1467 Rifle Road.
Both victims were stabbed in the early morning hours with a large knife and bludgeoned with a wheelbarrow handle during a premeditated assault, according to authorities.
At a news conference on Feb. 3, El Cerrito police Cmdr. Gary Priebe declined to discuss a motive for the incident except to say that it apparently was due to "a family-related issue that Mr. Wycoff was seriously concerned about."
Wycoff was arrested on the day of the murders after he arrived at a Roseville hospital with injuries he claimed to have sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Wycoff is next scheduled to appear in Richmond Superior Court at 8:30 a.m. on May 22.
