Danville Landmark In Need Of Some TLC
DANVILLE (CBS 5) ―
Big plans for a neglected downtown facility are on hold due to the economy. Now city residents are just hoping to salvage a scaled-down version of the old Danville Hotel.
The landmark is at a crossroads. Its current tenants are doing well - among them a restaurant and vintage store - but if you look at the back of the building, an addition that was built in the 1960's is vacant and crumbling.
Tom Baldacci is the developer who'd like to see the landmark grow into something more. Those who are passionate about the front side of the hotel might sleep a little better knowing Baldacci doesn't plan on changing its appearance. On the backside, he'd like to see a two story building with condos on top and retail on the bottom. Not all locals are thrilled about that plan, as Ann Notarangelo found out in her video report.
