CSU Application Deadline Fast Approaching

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / KCBS) ― Incoming freshmen to the Cal State University system have until midnight Saturday to get in for the upcoming fall semester.

New restrictions were imposed on the application process due to severe budget cuts this year. The 23-campus Cal State system was alerted back in January that the Governor was proposing more than $300 million in cuts. This was especially tough news for the universities that have seen significant growth. In all, freshman applications are up 12 percent system-wide. The numbers are even higher at Cal State East Bay.

"We're seeing a 23 percent increase in applications for this fall, over what we saw for last fall," said Vice President of Enrollment at Cal State East Bay Greg Smith.

Sixteen campuses have already stopped accepting applications. Only seven remain, including Cal State East Bay, Monterey Bay, and Sac State.
