BART Trains Back On Schedule After Long Delays

WALNUT CREEK (BCN) ― Bay Area Rapid Transit trains are running as scheduled Friday morning after a train stuck between the Walnut Creek and Lafayette stations caused up to 40 minutes in delays for about three hours, a spokesman said.

A train stopped picking up electricity from a rail around 7 a.m. and caused trains to use a single-track system through the area, BART spokesman Jim Allison said.

Another train picked up the passengers on the inactive train while BART officials worked on towing it out of the way.

The Pittsburg/Bay Point line was affected the most, with up to 40-minute delays until just after 10 a.m., Allison said.

Other trains also experienced delays of about 15 minutes, he said.

By 10:15 a.m., BART officials towed the train out of the area and trains were back on schedule with some minor, residual delays on the Pittsburg/Bay Point line, he said.
