3 Santa Cruz County Quakes Occur In Under 24 Hours
WATSONVILLE (CBS 5 / AP / BCN) ―
Several small earthquakes struck in Santa Cruz County on Friday night and Saturday morning, but there were no reports of any damage or injury.
The U.S. Geological Survey said a magnitude-3.2 quake hit just before 5 a.m. Saturday with a depth of 4.1 miles. A second quake with a 2.4 magnitude in the same location followed just two minutes later, and it had a depth of 3.5 miles.
The morning quakes were centered 2 miles southeast of Aromas, 9 miles east-southeast of Watsonville, 12 miles west of Hollister and 35 miles southeast of San Jose.
Sheriff dispatchers in Santa Cruz County and nearby Monterey County said they had received no word of injuries or damage.
A 3.0-magnitude quake struck at 10:40 p.m. Friday near the same area. It had a depth of 4.1 miles, and was centered 8 miles east-southeast of Watsonville and 12 miles west-northwest of Hollister, according to the USGS.
