S. Bay Man Accused Of Molesting MySpace Girl
SAN JOSE (CBS 5 / KCBS) ―
Opening statements were heard Monday in the case of a South Bay man accused of molesting a girl he met on MySpace.
Anthony Uckele, 22, is charged with 36 counts of molestation. Police said he had a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl over the course of seven months, beginning in October of 2005.
The girl had posed as a 16-year-old on MySpace, according to prosecutor Jim Shore. "He took her to Nickel City, which is a local video arcade where children go, and then eventually began a full-fledged relationship that lasted for seven months where they had numerous sexual encounters," he said.
The defense claims Uckele knew what he did was wrong, but only had sex with the victim twice, and the girl is now blowing the relationship out of proportion.
The prosecution will try and prove that Uckele had history of having sex with underage girls he met on MySpace.
