6 - AT THE MOVIES
Taking Woodstock
Now playing
Director Ang Lee brings us the story behind one of the world's most renowned music festivals1. The event in the Summer of 1969 brought peace, love, and music together over the course of one weekend. Demetri Martin makes his big screen leading man debut in the role of Elliot Tiber, the man many credit with helping Woodstock happen. The film showcases the characters and not the songs behind this massive music happening.

Escape to wine country for the weekend and enjoy Guerneville on the Russian River just an hour away. This nearby retreat offers camping and lodging and homes you can rent for a weekend or week long stay. The town itself is rustic but among the tall redwoods you will discover good spots to eat and much to do. You can kayak on the Russian River, a breathtaking way to soak up the scenery. On the outskirts of town is Westside road boasting some of California's finest wineries, Arista, Gary Farrell and Rochiloli to name but three. For more log on to the town's visitors site.

9 - KILLER BRUNCH
Savor
3913 24th Street, San Francisco
Mon-Thu, Sun 8am-10pm
Fri-Sat, 8am-11pm
There is no better way to spend a weekend morning than at brunch and in San Francisco's Noe Valley, I know just the spot. Savor on 24th is where you will find the best crepes in the Bay Area. There, I said it. The Tuscany crepe is my fave: it's loaded with chicken chunks in a heavenly pesto sauce with pine nuts and spinach. It is to die for. If the weather is nice, enjoy brunch outside on the patio. Don't worry about your pocket book, brunch here is a cheap eat and tasty, too.

10 - GOURMET HAPPY HOUR
Martin's West Pub
831 Main Street, Redwood City
Lunch: Monday to Friday 11am to 2.30pm
Dinner: Monday to Saturday 5pm - 11pm
At last, a destination pub with posh nosh in Redwood City. This brand-spanking new pub is very much about the food. Of course, I can only comment on the delicious apps I devoured at the opening bash: pork belly on Irish soda bread, heaven. Goat cheese fritters than melt in your mouth. And smashing bangers and mash, classic pub fare done wickedly well. Ooh, did I mention the deep fried mars bar? YUMMY! The vibe is cozy and comfortable as any pub should be. I highly recommend it. And for folks in the city, it's a 30-minute ride on the train. Leave the car behind and have a night out in Redwood City, you'll be glad you did.
