4 AT THE MOVIES
An American In Paris
Paramount Theatre, 2025 Broadway, Oakland
Friday, April 3.
Admission $5.
Enjoy a celluloid masterpiece, a classic the Oscar winning An American in Paris. It's a 1951 musical film starring Gene Kelly who plays an American ex-G.I. in Paris who just wants to paint, though he's obviously the best hoofer in town. George Gershwin's music, Gene Kelly's dancing, and Vincente Minnelli's direction make this an irresistible film!

5 - WILD WILD WEB
Bloom
Download NOW on itunes
Every now and then itunes serves up an app that makes you want to shout about it from your rooftops, BLOOM is that app. Designed by sonic wizard Brian Eno, the BLOOM app allows you to use your fingers to generate a melody that will play back in a loop, as lovely colors bounce all over your phone. It is an addictive and dare I say it intoxicating. You will get sucked in and will spend hours in BLOOM_land. Waiting for the train or bus will never be boring again. See what I am fussing about here.

This is the third musical outing for Gavin DeGraw and it's a stripped down, low key affair. The album features DeGraws trademark songs of woe: Stay and Waterfall. These tunes will tug at your heartstrings and that's what this prison guard's son from South Fallsburg, New York does best. Head to Gavin's online home for music, tour news and more.

8 HOT TICKET
Travis
Tuesday 7th April 8pm
Zellerbach Auditorium, Berkeley
The lads from bonnie Scotland Travis are back in the Bay for one night only. This Brit-pop foursome can pack a musical punch and never disappoint when they perform live. I first saw Travis in 2000 at Bottom Of The Hill in SF and became an instant fan. See you at the show.

9 SUNDAY BRUNCH
City Grill
4123 24th Street, San Francisco
Dinner: Tuesday to Sunday 5.30pm - 10.30pm
Brunch: Saturday and Sunday 9am - 2pm
There is a new kid on the block and it is City Grill, a restaurant more cosey, more Noe Valley than city. It is in the same spot once home to Kookez and another favorite, Miss.Millies before that. The food here all American surf and turf. I can only speak of the 8 ounce Angus beef burger and it was off the charts. It came with a generous portion of perfect skinny fries, the burger in a fresh warm bun, lashings of cheddar cheese dripping off the meat. Mmmm. You will also find spicy grilled tiger prawns and cioppino on the menu, two more reasons to return to City Grill.

10 HAPPY HOUR
15 Romolo
15 Romolo Street, San Francisco
Happy Hour Daily 5 - 7.30pm
(415) 398 1359
It is happy hour every hour at this cool watering hole, 15 Romolo a hidden gem up a side straight steps away from the hustle and bustle of North Beach's main drag. Behind the bar you will find some of the best mixologists SF has to offer, shaking up a drinks storm such as: The Ruby Tues, The Rum Whizzle, and my favorite Mr.Peabody. It's a delicious concoction of gin, early grey tea, cara cara marmalade and bergamot tincture! Need I say more. Drop in anytime but happy hour is particularly festive $6 pimm's cups and $5 well drinks. The bar boasts first class food too, a step up from usual bar fare ($3 to $6): pulled pork sliders that are too tasty for words. And funnel cakes that will take you back to the carnival and to a happy place.
For late owls the kitchen manned by Scott Baird, is open daily from 6pm to 1.30am. Love that.
