Open Position: WEEKEND NEWS/WEEKDAY FILL-IN/SEGMENT PRODUCER
Station: KPIX TV - San Francisco

Reports to: Executive Producer
Availability: Immediate

Description of duties:
Produce weekend newscast, oversee tape editing, write scripts, research news stories, order news graphics from art department, and time programs or segments. Make effective editorial and content judgments, so that the department's guidelines and editorial standards are met. Assign crews, monitor scanner and beat check calls. Effectively supervise and direct other news staff. Juggle information, priorities and staff in a flexible and effective manner. Use all production elements accurately and consistently. Use superior news judgment.
Work three weekdays as either a fill-in producer, field producer, or writer contributing to consumer news, health news and other special segments, as well as field producing daily coverage.
Requirements:
The successful candidate should have at least three (3) years experience in a major-market television newsroom as a producer. Must have experience with live breaking news coverage. Must demonstrate excellent writing, production and management skills. Editing and shooting experience a plus! Journalism degree and/or equivalent.
Physical demands:
Must be able to sit at desk for long periods of time and operate keyboard. * A detailed physical description is on file.
