Lake Oroville
(CBS 5)
Located in the northern Sierra Nevada foothills, Lake Oroville is widely known for its bass fishing tournaments. Tom angles for his own trophies with a local guide, explores a unique campground on the lake, and hikes to Feather Falls for a fantastic view.
The Lake Oroville Recreation Area, located about 2 ½ - 3 ½ hours away from the Bay Area, is your resource for fishing, camping, and regional information and history. The visitor center is located on a hill overlooking the Oroville Dam, and boasts a 47-foot tall viewing tower, offering 360-degree panorama views.

These campgrounds are outfitted with toilets, sheltered dining areas with built-in grills, and an open-air deck for sleeping under the stars. You need to own or rent a boat to access these unique stations. (800) 444-7275.
The Feather Falls National Recreation Trail is a 9-mile loop to view 640-foot Feather Falls, the sixth highest in the nation. Snowmelt runoff makes the falls especially appealing during the month of April. The hike includes moderate elevation gain, which may prove uncomfortable in the heat of the summer.
