Whole Foods Market was opening a new store in San Francisco's Noe Valley neighborhood Wednesday to the delight of some, but not all.
The store, located at 3950 24th St., will replace the former Bell Market.
Whole Foods officials and Supervisor Bevan Dufty were scheduled to attend a "bread-breaking" ceremony prior to the opening.
A Facebook group apparently created by critics of Whole Foods CEO John Mackey planned to protest the opening.
The opposition stems from Mackey's recent public comments supporting a more conservative approach to health care reform. The group has called for a boycott of Whole Foods and is planning to "raise a ruckus" at today's opening.
