Take Highway 101 north. Exit on Highway 154/San Marcos Pass. Turn right on East Camino Cielo Rd. Continue 3 miles to a closed Forest Service Gate (on your left). The gate is 0.9 miles past Painted Cave Rd. Parking pullouts on the right. Hike past the "Private Property' gate on an unpaved road, the trail splits at 0.4 miles, veer right toward second gate. The ruins sit on a point overlooking the valley. Although it sits on private property, the current owner graciously allows access.
Franchesci Park is located off Mission Ridge Road in Santa Barbara.
Butterfly Beach in Montecito Directions:
Take the 101 south to Olive Mill in Montecito. Take a right at the top of the exit and follow it around until you reach the beach on your left.
