Bay Area Red Flag Warning Canceled

 Environment & The Green Beat

(BCN) A red flag warning issued Monday morning for a slight chance of dry thunderstorms in the North Bay Mountains has been canceled, according to the National Weather Service.

A band of moisture that was moving toward the North Bay does not appear to be a threat for dry lightning. Any threat of dry thunderstorms will be well north of the area Monday, according to the NWS.

This is good news for firefighters, who have relentlessly been battling countless wildfires in the region sparked by dry lightning.

Dry lightning is a term used to refer to thunderstorms that produce no rain but reach the ground.
