AMERICAN CANYON (CBS 5) ― The image of diesel locomotives spewing smoke is getting a makeover. A new generation of cleaner trains are hauling cargo through the Bay Area.

California Northern Railroad took delivery of number 501, first of a new generation of clean diesel locomotives. The railway delivers wine and other food based crops all over Northern California. With this new locomotive, it will do so while spewing out a lot less diesel soot, and use less fuel.
