Bay Area Couple Develops Compostable Bottles

 Environment & The Green Beat
(CBS 5) Plastic bottles can be recycled, but despite peoples best efforts, many of the bottles end up in landfills. Now a Bay Area couple has developed a plastic bottle that is better for the environment, because it's compostable.

Doug and Sig Ivey created what they call "Nature's Bottles," which are produced outside Sacramento. The bottles are made by plants, not petroleum and will go way through industrial or municipal composting in a matter of weeks. Currently the bottle is only available through industry, the military and through special events, but will soon be marketed nationally.
