Fairfax Ends Forced Plastic Bag Ban
Fairfax (AP) ―
Fairfax city officials have decided to make the town's ban on plastic grocery bags voluntary.
Councilman Lew Tremaine says the city has received legal advice that indicated they were not likely to prevail if the ban was challenged in the courts.
In July, the council voted unanimously to bar grocery stores, restaurants and retail shops from using plastic bags.
Now it looks like the complaince will be optional.
