Jack Benny Fan Club Pushes For Stamp Status

PIEDMONT (AP) ― Jack Benny was always joking that he was 39 years old -- no matter how old he was.

Now that the Post Office is about to increase the price of a first-class stamp to 39 cents, fans of Jack Benny say he's the perfect person to be on that stamp.

The Bay-Area based International Jack Benny Fan Club has already come up with a design on its Web site: Jack Benny with his arms folded and his usual half-smile, half-smirk.

The fan club is leading a petition drive and hopes to send 20,000 signatures to the U-S Post Office's Citizens Stamp
Advisory Committee in Alexandria, Va.
