Police say a former cast member of the 1980s television show "Family Ties" has been arrested for investigation of assault in Colorado.
Brian Bonsall, 28, of Westminster, allegedly got into a fight at an apartment on Saturday and hit a friend with part of a broken wooden stool.
Bonsall allegedly told officers he had been drinking and didn't remember what happened.
Bonsall played Michael J. Fox's little brother Andy Keaton on the sitcom. He is being held in the Boulder County Jail and was due in court Wednesday. Jail records didn't indicate his lawyer's name.
Bonsall pleaded guilty to third-degree assault in a 2007 case in Boulder. He was arrested in March 2007 after his girlfriend told police he poured an alcoholic drink on her face while she slept, put her in a choke hold and threw her onto a bed when she tried to leave. Bonsall told investigators he pushed her down in self-defense after she cut his arm and face with a steak knife.
In July 2008 he failed to show up for a court hearing in Boulder and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was accused of violating the terms of the 2 year probation term he was ordered to serve after the 2007 assault.
In June 2004 police in Boulder arrested Bonsall on suspicion of drunken driving. In addition, Bonsall was convicted of drunken driving in 2001 and his license was suspended.
