Grammy Winner Navaira Hurt In Bus Crash

HOUSTON (CBS News) ― Grammy-winning Tejano singer Emilio Navaira is in critical condition after his band bus crashed in Houston.

Navaira and his band Rio performed in Houston on Saturday night. The band's bus collided with two other vehicles about 5 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 610 northbound in western Houston.

CBS affiliate KHOU reports Navaira's bus was overturned. Eight people were injured in the crash. According to his agent, Navaira had the most serious injuries.

Navaira was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where hospital administrator Lisa Lagrone listed him in critical condition. The others were taken to Memorial Hermann and Ben Taub hospitals.

The 45-year-old Navaira and Rio have released more than a dozen albums, including "Acuerdate" that won the 2002 Grammy for best Tejano album.
