Angelina Jolie's Mother Dies Of Cancer In L.A.

Marcheline Bertrand, actress and mother of Angelina Jolie, has died of cancer.

Jolie says in statement released by her manager that Bertrand died yesterday afternoon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after a seven and a half year battle with cancer.

No age for Bertrand has been provided.

Jolie, her partner Brad Pitt, and her older brother James were at the hospital with Bertrand yesterday.

Bertrand raised Jolie and her brother after divorcing their father, actor Jon Voight, when Jolie was a toddler.

She has appeared in the movies "Lookin' to Get Out" and "The Man Who Loved Women."

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to the Women's Cancer Research Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

A private funeral is scheduled.
