Pleasanton Residents Asked To Fund Smaller Classes
PLEASANTON (CBS 5) ―
For the first time in Pleasanton schools, parents have been asked to donate $55, just to enroll their children in summer school academies. It's a sign of the times. Fundraising for Pleasanton schools is also taking a bold new step.
This summer, the district has teamed up with two education foundations, to raise an ambitious $2.8 million for the upcoming school year. Not just parents, the entire community is being asked to write checks.
The money is to keep K through 3rd grade classes low, save counselors, reading specialists and strings and band programs in elementary schools. Our video report has more.
