Mt. Diablo School Officials To Vote On Sports
CONCORD (CBS 5 / AP) ―
Officials with the Mt. Diablo Unified School District are expected to decide Tuesday evening whether to cut winter sports from the district's schools.
District trustees voted to cut funding for all sports earlier this year, but agreed to let a new foundation try to raise about $1.2 million for sports programs by seeking contributions, holding fundraisers and other efforts.
Through late September, the fledgling United Mt. Diablo Athletic Foundation had fallen short of its fundraising goal but trustees gave the foundation another month to try to raise more money.
The Mt. Diablo Unified School District operates nearly 60 schools and programs in the East Bay.
