Students Begin Filling U.C. Berkeley Dorms

BERKELEY (CBS 5 / KCBS) ― Classes begin Wednesday at UC Berkeley and hundreds of students were in the process of moving into campus residence halls this week.

Many like sophomore Katie Nelson relied on a computer program to find their roommates. The students filled out a questionnaire by StarRez, a company that specializes in housing and conference software.

The profiling software asked some fairly personal questions such as personal hygiene and sexual habits, said Nelson. But she said it was worth it to find compatible roommates.
