A California State University, Sacramento student accused of beating to death his roommate has been charged with murder and assaulting a peace officer. Prosecutors filed the charges Tuesday against 19-year-old Quran Jones, who remains in the hospital after being shot by police. He's been upgraded from fair to good condition since the Oct. 21 incident. Authorities say Jones beat 23-year-old Scott Hawkins with a baseball bat during a rampage in their five-person suite. Officers opened fire after they say Jones lunged at them with a knife.
