Series Of Small Earthquakes Rattle Sonoma County
CLOVERDALE (BCN) ―
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.0 and an epicenter east of Cloverdale hit around 7 a.m. Friday and prompted a series of aftershocks, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The earthquake was reported at 7:02 a.m. with an epicenter just under a mile deep and about 16 miles east of Cloverdale and 22 miles north of Santa Rosa, according to the USGS.
Within an hour, four smaller quakes struck around the same area.
The biggest among the four was a 2.3 magnitude quake that shook
right before 7:15 a.m. and the most recent struck just before 8 a.m. with a preliminary magnitude of 1.2, according to the USGS.
