Small Quakes Shake Up And Down California Coast
HUMBOLDT COUNTY (CBS 5 / AP) ―
Earthquakes rattled up and down the California coast on Friday morning.
A magnitude-4.9 quake centered in the Pacific off the remote Humboldt County north coast community of Petrolia struck at 3:49 a.m.
The epicenter was in the ocean 18 miles west of the California/Oregon border areas.
Another smaller quake rattled the Fontana area of San Bernardino County about two hours earlier.
The U.S. Geological Survey in Pasadena said the magnitude-3.3 Fontana quake struck at 1:53 a.m. some 44 miles east of Los Angeles.
