Woman Found Beaten On East Oakland Trail
OAKLAND (BCN) ―
A young woman who was found severely beaten on a trail in the King Estates open space area in East Oakland was still unconscious and is in critical condition Wednesday, according to Oakland police spokesman Sgt. Michael Poirier.
Poirier said police don't know the identity or exact age of the woman, who was found 100 yards off Crest Avenue in the open space area, which is just below Interstate Highway 580, shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday by a person who was walking a dog.
Poirier said the woman "was beaten to the point where she was in critical condition."
He said the woman suffered from multiple blunt force trauma.
Poirier said investigators believe the woman had been lying on the
trail for at least two hours or more before she was discovered.
He said the incident is being investigated by the Oakland Police Department's special victims unit.
