Hayward Teenager Shot Dead In Oakland

OAKLAND (BCN) ― The victim of a fatal shooting in Oakland late Thursday night was a 17-year-old Hayward boy, according to police.

Officers responded at about 11:45 p.m. to the shooting in the 1600 block of 65th Avenue, Officer Jeff Thomason said.

The teen was killed by a gunshot wound to the upper body and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was the 92nd homicide this year in the city. As of Aug. 28, 2007, there had been 88 homicides in Oakland, Thomason said.

Police have not released the boy's name.

No suspects have been arrested.
