A 37-year-old San Jose man has been arrested in connection with 250 identity theft crimes at the Los Gatos Lunardi's supermarket, Los Gatos/Monte Sereno police announced Friday.
Raymond Kurt Fisher was arrested Thursday after months of investigation into identity thefts stemming from an ATM machine. He is accused of burglary and conspiracy and is being held in the Santa Clara County Jail on $1 million bail, according to police.
Between March and April an ATM card reader was compromised at the store, police reported. Around 250 people who used the machine during this time reported fraudulent charges or withdrawals from their bank accounts, primarily in the Southern California area.
Fisher was an employee at Lunardi's when the machine was compromised and when the thefts occurred.
The total stolen is around $300,000, according to police.
The investigation into the fraud is ongoing and police are not ruling out the possibility of further arrests.
