Richmond Wife Dies In Murder-Suicide Attempt
RICHMOND (BCN) ―
A 46-year-old man fatally shot his 33-year-old wife before attempting to kill himself at a home in unincorporated Contra Costa County near Richmond early Sunday morning, a sheriff's spokesman said.
Authorities received a call around 12:15 a.m. from a 17-year-old boy stating that his father had pulled a gun on his mother in the 200 block of Heather Drive in unincorporated Montalvin Manor, Contra Costa County sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.
Sheriff's deputies responded and found both the man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Lee.
The mother was pronounced dead at the scene, Lee said.
Her husband was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut
Creek where he remained in critical condition this afternoon, according to Lee.
Lee said authorities believe the husband killed his wife before shooting himself, and are not looking for any other suspects in the case.
"It does appear that the husband shot his wife and then went to shoot himself," Lee said.
The 17-year-old boy was uninjured and is staying with relatives, according to Lee.
