An employee of a pizzeria in San Francisco's Nob Hill neighborhood was stabbed to death early Tuesday morning, and police have arrested a woman they believe is responsible.
The San Francisco medical examiner's office has identified Lassaad Bokri as the 38-year-old man who was fatally stabbed.
Police have arrested 25-year-old Maryam Achekzai on suspicion of killing the San Francisco man, police Sgt. Wilfred Williams said.
The attack happened in the 900 block of Sutter Street shortly after 1:30 a.m.
Employees of nearby businesses said Tuesday that the victim worked for Bellissimo Pizza at 920 Sutter St.
After the attack, Williams said, Achekzai ran away and witnesses to the stabbing followed her. She flagged down a passing motorist and asked for a ride, telling the driver she was being threatened, Williams said.
The car didn't make it far before police responding to the initial call pulled it over and took Achekzai into custody, Williams said.
Bokri was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died.
The motive for the attack remains under investigation, but Williams said it does not appear Bokri and Achekzai knew each other. He said Achekzai had asked the Bokri for water a few minutes before the attack.
Police have recovered what they believe is the murder weapon, Williams said.
