SF Pizza Parlor Argument Ends In 2 Shooting Deaths

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ― The circumstances surrounding a double-fatal shooting in San Francisco's Sunset District early Saturday morning have come to light after extensive witness interviews, according to police.

Daly City resident Jason de la Cruz, 31, and San Francisco resident Derek Butch, 23, were fatally shot at 19th Avenue and Irving Street just before 2:30 a.m., Sgt. Neville Gittens said.

Gittens said the two victims had been at a bar before they crossed the street to a pizza shop at 1833 Irving Street. Outside of the pizza shop, de la Cruz and Butch got into an altercation with a group that was already there.

A man believed to be an acquaintance of the group reportedly got out of a nearby parked vehicle and shot the victims before fleeing southbound on 19th Avenue in the car, Gittens said.

The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The suspect is described as an Asian male in his early 20s with a thin build. He has short dark hair that is spiky in the front and was last seen wearing a black and orange San Francisco Giants jacket and blue jeans, said Gittens.

The suspect vehicle is a mid-90s dark blue two-door car, either an Acura Integra or a Honda Civic.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked by Gittens to call the San Francisco Police Department tip line at (415) 575-4444.
