Pittsburg Sexual-Assault Suspect Sketch Released

 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

PITTSBURG (CBS 5 / BCN) ―

Police have released a composite sketch of a man believed to have abducted and sexually assaulted two females in Pittsburg Saturday morning, a 19-year-old disabled woman and an 11-year-old girl.

Although descriptions of the man differ slightly, Pittsburg police Lt. Brian Addington said that the common characteristics described by the two victims are that their attacker was a large black man weighing more than 230 pounds with a bald or shaved head and a tattoo of a woman's face in silhouette on his right forearm.

The two attacks occurred within about two hours of each other, and in both cases the man was driving a green sedan with tinted windows, police reported.

The first incident occurred at about 9:15 a.m. The 19-year-old victim was walking in the area of Harbor and Army streets when a man driving a green sedan approached her. The man convinced the victim to get into his car under the pretense of giving her a ride to the store, police reported.

The man then drove the woman to a nearby residential neighborhood, where he attempted to sexually assault her inside his vehicle.

The woman screamed and was able to break free from her attacker and get out of the car. The man fled the scene.

At about 11 a.m. a man believed to be the same person approached an 11-year-old girl as she was walking in the area of School Street and Railroad Avenue.

The man initially tried to coax the girl into his car by offering her a ride home, but she declined. He then followed along beside her in his car and continued to try and convince her to get in.

When the girl broke into a run to get away, the man pulled his car into her path, got out and forced her into the car, Addington said.

The man then drove the girl to a residential neighborhood about three miles away and sexually assaulted her inside the car, police reported.
After completing the assault, he drove the girl back to the general location where he had abducted her, police reported.

Addington said no new attacks have been reported since Saturday and the case doesn't seem to match any other sexual assault cases in the county.

Anyone with information on either incident or the suspect is asked to call the Pittsburg Police Department's tip line at (925) 252-7369.
