Santa Rosa Man Jailed In Parking Officer Assault
SANTA ROSA (BCN) ―
An angry driver who tried to run down a parking enforcement officer in Santa Rosa on Monday was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, according to police.
Just before 3 p.m., a vehicle without a handicap placard was parked in a handicap space near 1880 Mendocino Avenue, according to Santa Rosa police.
The parking officer apparently contacted the driver, later identified as 24-year-old Richard Gobeille-Peterson, and wrote him a ticket for illegally occupying a handicap space.
Gobeille-Peterson allegedly became angry and tore up the citation and threw it at the officer, according to police, causing her to drive on to Silva Avenue in search of police assistance.
Gobeille-Peterson also drove on to Silva Avenue and drove straight at the officer, allegedly attempting to strike her.
Police responded to the scene and arrested Gobeille-Peterson for assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked at Sonoma County Jail.
