 CBS 5 CrimeWatch
OAKLAND (BCN) ― Oakland police Wednesday night responded to the scene of a fatal shooting in the 800 block of Mead Avenue.

The shooting was reported around 6:30 p.m. but officers remained at the scene Wednesday evening. The single victim died at the scene, according to the Alameda County coroner's bureau.

No arrests were made and no one else was injured during the incident. Wednesday was the third day in a row that Oakland saw shooting incidents.

The string of shootings began around 9:20 p.m. Monday when two men were injured in the 900 block of Filbert Street, Oakland police spokesman Jeff Thomason said. Both men were reported in stable condition.

Another shooting, at about 10:45 p.m., brought officers to the 2600 block of 82nd Avenue and left a male victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, according to Thomason.

About 15 minutes later, a man was shot and injured in the 2700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Thomason said. The suspects were described as four male juveniles.

Then, at about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, a man was shot in the leg in the 1200 block of 99th Avenue, according to Thomason. The victim underwent surgery and was reported to be in stable condition.

A 33-year-old Oakland man was killed in another shooting early Tuesday morning, according to police spokesman Roland Holmgren.

Officers located the victim in a vehicle in the 8700 block of Bancroft Avenue around 2:45 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Officers were called around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday to reports of a shooting in the 1900 block of Filbert Street, police said. A man sustained a gunshot wound to his back and was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
