Man Gunned Down In East Oakland

OAKLAND (BCN) ― A 32-year-old Vallejo man was killed in a shooting in East Oakland Tuesday night, police said Wednesday.

Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of 84th Avenue, near Bancroft Avenue, at 10:20 p.m. to investigate a report of gunshots.

They arrived to find the victim, Earnest Prescott, suffering from bullet wounds, police spokesman Officer Jeff Thomason said. Prescott was taken to a hospital, where he died.

His death marks the city's 95th homicide this year.
