Man Solicits 8-Year-Old Boy In San Mateo
SAN MATEO (BCN) ―
San Mateo police on Monday asked for the public's assistance in locating a man who asked an 8-year-old boy to get into his car Sunday evening.
The boy was in the area of El Camino Real and East Santa Inez Avenue at about 6:15 p.m. when a man pulled alongside him and asked him to get into the car, police said. The boy declined and the man drove away.
The driver was described as a black man around 30 years old with a medium build and short hair. He was wearing an orange shirt, shorts and a green visor. The vehicle was described as a black compact car, according to police.
The Police Department is asking anyone with information about the case to call the investigation services unit at (650) 522-7650 or the secret witness line at (650) 522-7676.
Police are also reminding parents to speak with their children about being mindful of their surroundings, not talking to strangers, avoiding walking alone and calling 911 if necessary.
