Hayward Man Fatally Stabbed Near Liquor Store
HAYWARD (BCN) ―
An argument near a Hayward liquor store Tuesday afternoon may have led to a stabbing that left a 51-year-old man dead, according to police.
Around 3:45 p.m., police received a call of a stabbing victim close to Tennyson Liquors on West Tennyson Road at Pompano Avenue, police said.
Arriving medical personnel provided assistance and transported the victim, later identified as Hayward resident Tommy Martinez, to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley where he died, marking the city's seventh homicide.
Investigators believe Martinez had been in an argument and physical altercation with the suspect, who fled the scene before police arrived.
Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic man in his late-40s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a slim build, short, dark hair and a light complexion. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
The suspect was seen fleeing in a white or silver, late-90s model compact car similar to a four-door Honda Civic.
People with information about the case should call Hayward police at (510) 293-7034 or (510) 293-7000.
