 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

EMERYVILLE (CBS 5 / AP / BCN) ― Authorities are investigating yet another "takeover" robbery of an East Bay restaurant.

Police in Emeryville said two men in hooded jackets robbed employees and customers of an undetermined amount of cash Wednesday night at a restaurant near the border of Emeryville and Oakland.

Around 9 p.m., the two suspects entered Restaurant Furenzu in the 3900 block of Adeline Street, said police. One of the suspects revealed a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from both employees and customers.

Both men fled southbound on Adeline Street on foot with an undetermined amount of cash and there were no reported injuries from the robbery.

The robbery comes as Oakland police are putting more officers on the street and using undercover officers as they try to crack a recent rash of robberies there.

Detectives are investigating six Oakland robberies in the last two weeks in which robbers have used similar methods to hold up restaurant customers and employees.

In the Oakland robberies, police said the robbers have gotten away with only small amounts of cash.

Berkeley police also said that armed robbers wearing ski masks held up two businesses in less than a week. But officials there don't know if the cases are related.

In one of the two Berkeley robberies, four men wearing ski masks robbed a safe of $2,500.

So far, no one has been hurt in any of the robberies.
