Sheriff's investigators are questioning two
suspects Thursday who may have been involved in a homicide in El Sobrante early
this morning, Contra
Costa County
sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.
At about 3 a.m. the sheriff's office received a
report of shots fired in the area of Argyle
Road and Kirkpatrick
Drive in the unincorporated Contra Costa
County community of El
Sobrante, Lee said.
They arrived to find a male victim in the
street suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was taken by ambulance to Doctors Medical
Center in San Pablo, where he died from his injuries,
Lee said.
Shortly after the shooting, Martinez police were involved in a pursuit on
Marina Vista near Interstate Highway 680, Lee said.
Contra Costa sheriff's Lt. Will Duke said
earlier today that a vehicle seen leaving the scene of the shooting appeared to
match the description of the vehicle involved in the chase in Martinez.
Once the vehicle was stopped, three people took
off on foot, Lee said. Police have since detained two of those suspects, who
were being questioned Thursday morning.
The suspects have not been arrested, but Lee
said investigators had information that led them to believe the suspects could
have been involved in the homicide.
