SF Muni Bus Routes Too Dangerous For Drivers?

 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / KCBS) ― San Francisco police will increase patrols on some Muni bus lines in the city's Bayview District, after meeting with Municipal Railway officials Wednesday.

The decision to increase patrols came after many Muni drivers said their routes were simply too dangerous to drive alone. There were even threats that Muni might temporarily shut down some routes because of security threats posed by a spike in violent crime.

There have been about 10 rocking throwing incidents that have rattled the nerves of bus drivers and passengers alike, particularly on the 44 O'Shaughnessy and the 54 Felton lines which both go through public housing projects, said Muni spokesman Judson True.

It's hoped that police can find the culprits and give them a quick attitude adjustment, he said.
