News of a string of daytime burglaries is spreading through San Ramon, and police say the suspects are employing some new methods to pick their targets.
"Over the past several months, we've had about 20 residential burglaries, and that's a drastic increase from what we've seen in the past," said Lt. Dan Pratt of the San Ramon Police Department.
Burglars often simply case out the house, knock on the door, or ring the bell, and if nobody is home, they go through the door or break a window.
Police say burglars now are leaving a business card, and waiting to see if it gets picked up. If it doesn't, they plan the break in.
"They're getting more bold," said Lt. Pratt. "It's something we're seeing more and more frequently."
Neighbors say news of the break-ins has spread and the community is on alert.
