N.Bay Cyclist Who Built Illegal Trail To Surrender

 Environment & The Green Beat

SAN RAFAEL (CBS 5) ― A San Rafael bicyclist was scheduled to surrender to authorities Thursday for carving an illegal biking trail in China Camp State Park.

Last month, 54-year-old Michael Philip More pleaded guilty and was sentenced to ten-days in County Jail and three years probation. More agreed to surrender Thursday, but will likely serve his time in a work program.

More was busted May 1 after a park ranger found him at an illegal quarter-mile trail in San Rafael's Glenwood neighborhood.

More dug the bike trail into a hillside, hacked down tree limbs and built rock paths through two drainage ditches.

He pleaded guilty in Marin Superior Court to two misdemeanor counts: negligent destruction or removal of plants and dead wood, and diverting or obstructing the natural flow of a stream. Two other charges, were dismissed.
