2 Dead, Young Boy Wounded In Bay Point Shooting

BAY POINT (CBS 5 / AP / BCN) ― A domestic dispute at a home in Bay Point ended in a triple-shooting Thursday afternoon that claimed the lives of two adults and seriously wounded a three-year-old boy, authorities said.

Contra Costa County sheriff's Capt. Daniel Terry called it "murder-suicide" stemming from a disturbance involving an estranged couple in their home in the 3400 block of Gregory Drive at Kim Street.

A 38-year man appearred to have shot a 34-year-old woman and a 3-year-old boy before reportedly turning the gun on himself about 1:45 p.m., Terry said.

The young boy survived, reportedly suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, and was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Oakland where he was listed in critical condition after undergoing surgery.

Terry said the domestic dispute involved an estranged husband and wife, and one of the two dead people was the shooter, but he did not identify the shooting victims as the couple. A pending restraining order was also involved and other witnesses were inside the house when the man started shooting, he said.

A neighbor said his wife heard the shots and the daughter of the woman who owns the house screaming "He shot my mom" and "My brother is still inside."
