Suspect Arrested In Bay Point Murder & Arson
BAY POINT (AP) ―
Investigators say a retiree found dead after a fire in his Bay Point townhouse last week was killed by a man who stole his high-end flutes.
23-year-old Alejandro Hernandez Rivera is being held on suspicion of murder, arson and other charges in the death of Theodore Neff.
The 66-year-old Neff was found dead in his home after a fire on the night of Dec. 3.
An autopsy determined that he had been strangled.
During their investigation, authorities found out that Neff had collected expensive flutes, including one that was valued at $23,000.
They also found out that a man had contacted the manufacturer, hoping the sell the flute.
Rivera was arrested over the weekend in a sting operation to buy the flute.
