Teen Shot In Antioch Park Expected To Survive
ANTIOCH (BCN) ―
A 16-year-old boy who was shot twice during a robbery in an Antioch park Thursday afternoon was still in the hospital Tuesday but is expected to survive his injuries, Sgt. Diane Aguinaga said.
The boy's father had sent him to Wal-Mart to buy cat food, and he was cutting through nearby Knoll Park when somebody reportedly robbed him of an MP3 player and then shot him in the back and the arm as he was running away, police said.
"All that for a $50 MP3 player," Aguinaga said.
Police received a call reporting the incident shortly after 5 p.m. and found the victim near the Wal-Mart parking lot, located at 4893 Lone Tree Way.
He was in critical condition and was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
The boy's condition has since been upgraded and he was well enough Tuesday to talk to detectives, Aguinaga said.
Police, however, still have no suspects and have only received limited information from witnesses.
